Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Philip Farmery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Jay Ray Okudja!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Okudja drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Farmery wants to sweep but no luck.
Okudja postures up in Farmery's guard and throws a big left but Farmery blocks it.
Farmery is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Okudja tries to get to full guard but Farmery has control of the leg.

Farmery wants to work for an arm triangle but Okudja is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Okudja wants to get back to full guard.

Farmery is working for a kimura here but Okudja manages to reverse the position and he's now in Farmery's guard.

Farmery had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Okudja defends it easily.
Okudja wants to pass the guard but Farmery is keeping the position.
Farmery is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Okudja throws and elbow that misses. Farmery uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Okudja's guard. Nice move by Farmery!

Okudja utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Farmery postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Okudja really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Farmery. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Farmery is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Okudja is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Farmery stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Okudja swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Farmery postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Okudja is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Farmery, into his guard.
Okudja must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Okudja wants to pass the guard but Farmery is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Farmery bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Okudja's guard.
Farmery trying to control the position from guard on top but Okudja is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Farmery looking to sit in guard and control but Okudja gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Okudja postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Farmery manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Okudja manages to get himself to full guard.

Farmery drops back looking for a leg! Okudja is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Okudja manages to kick Farmery off! Farmery jumps back into Okudja's guard.
Okudja can't keep his opponent in guard - Farmery advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Philip Farmery dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Farmery connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Farmery fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Farmery enables Okudja to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Farmery manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Farmery is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Okudja stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Farmery throws up his legs and catches Okudja in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Okudja tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Farmery! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Philip Farmery!
