Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between ELIAS CARIOCA (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Ortiz will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
CARIOCA misses with a two punch combination.

CARIOCA closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ortiz to the mat! Ortiz manages to get full guard.
CARIOCA wants to stand but Ortiz is controlling his posture from full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Ortiz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
CARIOCA wants to get up but he can't break Ortiz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
CARIOCA won't allow Ortiz to sweep him here.
CARIOCA wants to stand but Ortiz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ortiz has CARIOCA pulled in close to control his posture.

Ortiz manages to escape and get back to his feet.

CARIOCA decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
CARIOCA wants to stand up but Ortiz has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Ortiz is trying to control but can't.

CARIOCA stands up and beckons Ortiz to join him on the feet.
CARIOCA misses with a double jab.
CARIOCA is breathing heavily.
Ortiz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
CARIOCA changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ortiz tries to avoid it but CARIOCA manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ortiz to the ground. Ortiz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
ELIAS CARIOCA seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

CARIOCA shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ortiz's guard.
Ortiz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Ortiz has his foot on CARIOCA's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. CARIOCA works his way back into a safe position though.
