The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couture fails with a takedown attempt.

Queensberry bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Couture can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Queensberry wants to get back to full guard.
Queensberry is trying to control but can't.
Couture is pressing down on Queensberry's thigh, looking to free his foot. Queensberry is holding on for now.

Queensberry tries to close the distance and clinch but Couture swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Couture throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Queensberry tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Couture is in Queensberry's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that John Couture will probably get the nod.
