Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John MacCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Correa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John MacCarthy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Correa!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacCarthy tries to clinch but Correa moves out of range.
Correa throws a lazy uppercut
and MacCarthy counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
MacCarthy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Correa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Correa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
MacCarthy fails in his attempt to clinch.
MacCarthy tries to clinch there but Correa circles away.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Correa lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and MacCarthy has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from MacCarthy and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

MacCarthy dodges the punch combination from Correa.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
MacCarthy tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Correa counters with a nice low kick that buckles MacCarthy's knee momentarily.
MacCarthy looks to clinch
and Correa counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps MacCarthy thinking.

A looping hook to the body misses from Correa. MacCarthy does a little dance to reset his feet.
MacCarthy is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Correa motions for MacCarthy to come forward. Correa throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

MacCarthy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Correa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Correa misses with the combination.
Correa pivots, looking for a leg kick but MacCarthy is out of range and Correa settles back down.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
MacCarthy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Correa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Correa wants to slow MacCarthy down by chopping away at his legs.
Sloppy strikes from MacCarthy. Those never looked like landing.
Some bone on bone action there as MacCarthy checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Eric Correa dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

MacCarthy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Correa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

John MacCarthy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and MacCarthy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fight stays on the outside here - MacCarthy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That was a close second round but I would say that John MacCarthy will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Correa feints and then cracks MacCarthy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow MacCarthy down.

Eric Correa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Correa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
