PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zak Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Little Evil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Testament - D/N/R. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zak Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Little Evil!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Evil defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Anderson.
Anderson just misses with a punch to the body.
Evil gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Anderson counters with a left and a right that stings Evil.
Evil lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Evil throws a lazy uppercut
and Anderson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Evil rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Anderson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Anderson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Evil sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Anderson somewhat.
Anderson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Evil to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Zak Anderson has been cut.

Anderson trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Anderson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Evil wants to control but instead Anderson manages to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Evil is working away from the top position though.

Evil wants to pass the guard but Anderson is defending well.

Anderson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Evil's guard.

Evil is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Evil is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well.

Evil throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Anderson escapes and throws Evil's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Evil tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Anderson wants to control the pace but Evil is squirming around nicely.

Evil with a poor takedown
and Anderson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Evil lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Anderson at a distance.
Evil throws a poor cross that misses
and Anderson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Evil lands with a shot to the body.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Evil perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Evil not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Anderson pulls Evil in close to prevent any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Anderson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Evil shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Anderson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Evil might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Anderson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Little Evil hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Anderson dives in and grabs Evil's left leg, looking for a takedown. Evil pushes down on Anderson's head and hops out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Anderson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Evil's head.
Evil has his takedown stuffed
and Evil takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Good exchange - Evil coming out on top.
Evil is looking to clinch.
Evil misses with a double jab

and Anderson counters with a takedown into side control.
Evil tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Anderson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Anderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Evil keeps working.
Evil is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Anderson off and has taken his back!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Evil falls off balance throwing a combination
and Anderson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Anderson in particular looking to stall.

Evil has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Anderson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Evil.

Anderson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Anderson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
