Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Rahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Rahl!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown

and Rahl counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Rahl is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rahl.

Rahl seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Rahl sits in half guard.
Rahl sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jones defending well though.
Jones moves into full guard.

Jones throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rahl drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Rahl off! Rahl jumps back into Jones's guard.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rahl is controlling him.
Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Rahl is proving a slippery customer.
Rahl working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rahl is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rahl gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.

Rahl shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Rahl finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jones blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rahl.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Rahl slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead.
Nice strikes from Rahl there.
Rahl trying to control from half guard but Jones is working away.

Rahl is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rahl to get the leverage.
Rahl thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.
Rahl thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Rahl thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rahl is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rahl might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jones kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Jones slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rahl working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Rahl from controlling successfully.
Rahl working some strikes from top position.
Rahl trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones is trying to control the position but Rahl postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Rahl drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Rahl as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Jones screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Rahl! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Richard Rahl!
