Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Strong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Blunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blunt has chosen Danzig - Mother as his entrance music. Bob Blunt has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Strong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bob Blunt!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strong swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Blunt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Strong gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Blunt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Blunt connects with a solid leg kick.

Strong scores with a takedown into Blunt's guard.
Blunt looking for a sweep. Not yet Blunt, not yet.
Strong trying to control but Blunt is working from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Blunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Strong decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Blunt, up you get!
Strong wants to clinch up but Blunt keeps it at a distance.

Strong moves into the clinch.
Blunt throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Strong blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Strong fails to pull guard.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Blunt obliges.
Blunt lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Blunt keeps control of Strong as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Strong manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Blunt wants to pass the guard but Strong is keeping the position.
Strong tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Blunt looking to pass the guard.
Strong utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Strong is on top in guard.
Blunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Strong stays in close to Blunt's body and controls the position.
Blunt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Strong's guard.

Strong has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Strong tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A nice inside leg kick there by Blunt. That's going to slow Strong down.

Strong shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Strong showed some decent athleticism there.
Blunt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Strong lands a nice short elbow.
Strong slips a nice elbow through Blunt's hands, connecting with Blunt's forehead.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Strong connects with a nice short shot to Blunt's temple.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Strong in particular looking to stall.
Strong is nestled in close to Blunt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Blunt pushes Strong off looking to stand but Strong dives back in and keeps control.

Strong throwing shots but Blunt is blocking nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Jack Strong wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Strong jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Blunt walks away with a smile on his face. Strong gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Strong shoots in for a takedown but Blunt shows good takedown defense.

Strong closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Blunt did well to prevent Strong getting side control.

Strong trying to stand up but can't free himself from Blunt's guard.
Blunt lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Strong!

Blunt is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Strong can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Strong shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Strong is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Blunt. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Strong throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Blunt!

Jack Strong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Blunt breaks Strong's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Strong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blunt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blunt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

It looks like Jack Strong has been cut.

Blunt darts in and clinches Strong up against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Blunt creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Blunt unloads a knee to the mid-section. Strong lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Blunt crunches a lovely knee into Strong's ribcage.
Blunt lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Strong or not.

Strong is trying to maintain a safe position but Blunt gets an underhook and turns Strong into the cage.

Blunt throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Strong blocks it with crossed arms.
Blunt tries to land knees in the clinch but Strong avoids the damage to the body.
Strong tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Blunt smiles and moves away.

and Blunt counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Strong is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Jack Strong is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Strong closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Strong is trying hard to land a takedown here. Blunt sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bob Blunt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Blunt lands a jab to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I think Blunt has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
