Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drago has chosen James Brown - Living In America as his entrance music. Ivan Drago has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Barton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ivan Drago!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drago throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Drago takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Drago throws a poor cross that misses

and Barton counters with a single leg into guard. Drago didn't expect that.
Barton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Barton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drago is keeping the position for now.
Drago not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Drago wants to sweep but no luck.
Barton trying to control but Drago is working from the bottom.
Drago wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ivan Drago.

and Drago counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Barton is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Barton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Still in half guard, Barton seems content to control.
Barton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drago keeps working.
Barton lands with a punch from half guard.
Barton thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Drago tries to roll over but Barton keeps him under control.
Drago is looking to get back to full guard here but Barton has managed to pass to side control instead.
The ground and pound from Barton seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Drago pushes Barton off looking to stand but Barton dives back in and keeps control.
Drago is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Barton content to control rather than advance.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Drago has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barton is working away from the top position though.

and Drago cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Barton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Drago throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Barton counters with a stiff right hand.
Barton throws out a loose jab but Drago uses good head movement to avoid it.
Drago lands a nice shot to the body.
Barton waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Drago.
Drago throws a leg kick
and Barton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Drago swings widly with a right hand
and Barton counters with a nice body shot.

Drago rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Barton counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Drago's guard now.
Barton trying to control but Drago is working from the bottom.
Barton looking to pass the guard.
Barton trying to control the position from guard on top but Drago is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Barton passes Drago's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Drago is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Barton pulls his head out easily.

and Barton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Drago won't be happy with that.

Barton works to advance to full mount. Drago defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Drago is trying desperately to improve position.
Barton avoids the attempt from Drago to control.
Drago blocking the ground and pound.
Barton connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Barton controlling his opponent.
Drago avoids a series of strikes thrown by Barton.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Drago did well to prevent Barton getting side control.

We're going to have a standup here because Jack Barton wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Barton misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Drago counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Drago lands with an uppercut that bounces Barton off the cage and back into rage.
Drago scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Drago misses with a looping right.
Drago pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Barton lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Drago moves to clinch but Barton breaks away
and Barton counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Barton takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Barton is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Drago's half guard.
Drago wants to get back to full guard but Barton has mounted him!
Ivan Drago has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Barton thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Drago throwing hammer fists to the chest of Barton. What's that going to do exactly?
Drago tries to hold on but Barton postures up.
Drago bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Drago must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Barton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Drago wants to control from the top but Barton keeps moving.

Barton utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Barton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
