PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maximus Decimus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerkku Kataja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Decimus kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Vamos Campeon. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kataja looks for a takedown but Decimus sprawls well.

Kataja scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kataja is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Decimus being controlled here, momentarily.
Decimus wants to stand up but Kataja is controlling him.

Decimus had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kataja is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Decimus Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kataja's back instead.
Kataja tries to break free.

Decimus is persistently looking for the submission but Kataja is defending it well.
Kataja rolls, trying to escape but Decimus keeps control of the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Decimus doesn't have the hooks in and Kataja manages to turn into his guard.
Kataja stands and throws Decimus's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kataja tries to move to full mount but Decimus actually manages to regain half guard.

Decimus looking for subs from the bottom but Kataja mounts him!

Decimus is squirming around, avoiding Kataja's attempts to control the action.
Decimus is looking to improve his position but Kataja isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kataja should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kataja is landing with some decent strikes but Decimus is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Kataja looking for a guillotine from mount but Decimus is having none of it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Decimus is looking to improve his position but Kataja isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerkku Kataja dominated that round.
That's time! Decimus's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Decimus looks for the body kick but Kataja saw that one coming.
Decimus looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Kataja takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Kataja shoots in and bounces Decimus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kataja wants to stand but Decimus has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kataja working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Kataja lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Kataja trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kataja looking to sit in guard and control but Decimus gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kataja working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Decimus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Decimus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Decimus is looking to advance position but Kataja has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Decimus is working to get back to half guard.
Kataja thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Decimus is looking to get to half guard.

Decimus is working hard here to advance position.

Kataja goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Decimus turns into him and now he's in Kataja's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kataja has his feet on Decimus's thighs here. He's pushed Decimus off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Decimus screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
