PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Mcneilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Krohn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Mcneilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Krohn!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krohn wants to clinch

and Mcneilly counters with a shoot takedown. Krohn fights it but they end up in guard.
Mcneilly trying to control the position from guard on top but Krohn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Krohn should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mcneilly throws a big right hand that misses.
Mcneilly postures up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Krohn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mcneilly is pushing down on Krohn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Krohn is fighting to maintain full guard but Mcneilly has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mcneilly not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Krohn tries to get to full guard but Mcneilly has control of the leg.
Mcneilly throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcneilly looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nice strikes from Mcneilly there.

Mcneilly wants to pass to mount but Krohn is defending the position.

Mcneilly is looking for a kimura here.
Krohn wants to improve his position but Mcneilly is controlling well.
Mcneilly wants to control but Krohn is keeping him busy.

Mcneilly seems to be looking for submissions.
Krohn is looking to escape.

Mcneilly is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Krohn is looking to improve his position.

Krohn blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mcneilly.
Krohn is trying to maintain the position but Mcneilly is very close to passing his half guard.
Mcneilly content to control rather than advance.
Krohn is not content to let Mcneilly control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. James Mcneilly wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Mcneilly tries for a takedown but Krohn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mcneilly will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mcneilly circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mcneilly misses with a wild combination.
Horrible takedown by Mcneilly or perhaps it was just good defense by Krohn which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Mcneilly. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mcneilly closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcneilly working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mcneilly has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Krohn can't do much from the bottom here.
Mcneilly moves into full mount!
Mcneilly scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Krohn?
Krohn tries to reverse the position but Mcneilly maintains control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Krohn has left one of his arms exposed and Mcneilly doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Krohn screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
