The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mears lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Mears really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mears tests Barry's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mears shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Barry counters with a shoot takedown. Mears fights it but they end up in guard.
Barry scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Mears bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barry's guard.
Barry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mears. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mears wants to control from the top but Barry keeps moving.

Mears tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Mears wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barry keeps working.

Mears has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Barry defend it? Mears steps over the head and cranks it - Barry is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Mears!
