Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierce Russell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rico Olivarez!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danga de danga de dang - Russell scores with a four punch combination!
Russell scores with a sloppy right hand. Olivarez should have avoided that one.
Olivarez throws a lazy uppercut
and Russell counters with a two punch combo.
Russell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Russell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Olivarez was well out of range. Poor timing from Russell.
Olivarez looks to score with a jab to the body but Russell is just out of range.
Russell displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Russell missing with a left hand there. Olivarez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
No joy there for Russell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A right-left combo lands from Russell.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Russell throws a one two combo.
Olivarez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Russell's waist but Russell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Olivarez off to one side.
Russell throws a right and a left that both miss.
Olivarez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Olivarez swings for the body but Russell moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Russell misses with a looping left.
Pierce Russell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Russell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Russell connects with a right hand. Olivarez shakes it off.
Russell connects with a crisp jab.


Olivarez is rocked!

Olivarez is still on wobbly legs! Can Russell finish him?
Russell scores with a punch to the head.
Russell circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Olivarez to the canvas! Olivarez doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Russell keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pierce Russell!
