PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Umaga Beeturasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beeturasa is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Metallicas Sanatarium, coming home. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Jenkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Umaga Beeturasa!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beeturasa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Jenkins takes the fight into the clinch.
Jenkins gets underhooks to prevent Beeturasa's takedown attempt.
Jenkins prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jenkins has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Beeturasa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jenkins stalls.
Jenkins tries to throw a body punch but Beeturasa avoids it by throwing Jenkins back against the cage.
Jenkins using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Beeturasa has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Beeturasa has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jenkins regains guard immediately.

Beeturasa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jenkins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Beeturasa, into his guard.
Jenkins won't allow Beeturasa to sweep him here.
Beeturasa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jenkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Beeturasa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jenkins stops Beeturasa from standing up.
Jenkins wants to stand but Beeturasa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mark Jenkins just wasn't active enough.
Beeturasa throws a combination that misses

and Jenkins counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Beeturasa gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Beeturasa slips a nice elbow through Jenkins's hands, connecting with Jenkins's forehead.
Beeturasa working the head and body with strikes.
Beeturasa lands with a punch from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beeturasa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jenkins's head.
Beeturasa with the ground and pound but Jenkins uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beeturasa throwing strikes but missing.
Beeturasa postures up and lands a big shot to Jenkins's brow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Beeturasa throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Beeturasa is looking to work some ground and pound but Jenkins has wrist control.
Beeturasa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Beeturasa preventing the sweep.
Beeturasa postures up and lands a big shot to Jenkins's brow.
Jenkins avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jenkins wants to get back to his feet but Beeturasa is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beeturasa throws a big right hand that misses.
Jenkins is breathing heavily.
Beeturasa works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Beeturasa is nestled in close to Jenkins, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.


It looks like Mark Jenkins has been cut.
Beeturasa lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Beeturasa winds up and cracks Jenkins with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Beeturasa drops an elbow to the side of Jenkins's head.
Beeturasa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jenkins's head.
Jenkins on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Beeturasa works his way into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beeturasa in side control lands a decent elbow.
Beeturasa lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jenkins down.

Beeturasa looks up at the clock and then as Jenkins takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Beeturasa smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!


Mark Jenkins's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Check out the look on Beeturasa's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!


Jeez, Mark Jenkins's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mark Jenkins's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
