Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Light (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niko Medica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nicky Light!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Medica shoots and misses
and Light makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Light comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Medica swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Light dives in and grabs Medica's left leg, looking for a takedown. Medica pushes down on Light's head and hops out.
Light shoots for a takedown but Medica saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Light throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Medica shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Light manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Light manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Medica manages to get himself to full guard.
Light won't allow Medica to get back to his feet.
Medica keeping moving, preventing Light from controlling successfully.
Medica wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Light stands and throws Medica's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Light is looking to take a break and control but Medica is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Light tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Medica tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Medica is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Medica is trying to control Light's posture but Light avoids it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Medica can do anything to dispel that myth.
Light wants to control but Medica is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Medica wants to control but Light postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Medica drives through and clinches with Light against the cage.
Light blocks an elbow strike from Medica.
Medica with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

It looks like Nicky Light has been cut.

Medica gets control of Light's arms and successfully pulls guard. Medica will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Medica is trying to control the position but Light postures up.
Light wants to stand and escape but instead Medica has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Light is trying to keep Medica in close.
Light is breathing heavily.
Medica sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Light's guard.
Medica content to control rather than advance.

Light wants to get back to his feet.
Light wants to sweep but Medica has passed to side control!
Medica is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Light's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Nicky Light's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Light doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Medica counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Light's guard now.

Medica stands up and waves to Light to follow him.
Medica throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Medica tries to close the distance and clinch up but Light swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Light holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Light.

Light breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Medica shoots in and drives through. Light sprawls well.
Light has his takedown stuffed

so Medica counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Medica controls from within his opponent's guard.
Medica wants to control from the top but Light keeps moving.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Niko Medica hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Medica takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Light tries to keep at a distance but Medica has taken the fight into the clinch.

and Medica counters with a flying knee. Nice.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicky Light. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Medica drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Medica jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Medica is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Niko Medica has got the better of the ground game so far.
Medica slips nicely into half guard.
Medica seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Light has a hand on Medica's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Medica takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Light looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Medica lands a shot to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Niko Medica showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Light's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Medica looks for a takedown but Light sprawls well.

and Medica decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Light's guard.

Medica might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Light kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Medica seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Light does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Light avoids the body shot from Medica.
Light stuffs the takedown attempt from Medica. Medica gets slowly back to his feet.

and Medica counters with a shoot takedown. Light fights it but they end up in guard.

Light has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Medica is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Light.

Medica tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Medica has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Light looks like he's trying to stand up.
Medica performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Medica stalling.
Light is looking for a sweep. Medica is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Medica is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Niko Medica comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
