Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Go Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joshua Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Go Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Wright fails with a takedown attempt.

Wright gets the takedown into side control.
Wright wants to control but Yamamoto is keeping him busy.
Yamamoto is looking for a sweep.
Yamamoto manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Yamamoto is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yamamoto trying to pass the guard but Wright defending well.

Wright wants to control but Yamamoto is keeping busy.
Yamamoto wants to take a breather but Wright is having none of it.
Yamamoto uses his free foot to push down on Wright's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wright.
Wright tries to hold on but Yamamoto postures up.

Wright wants to control but Yamamoto is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wright is wriggling around trying to escape.

Yamamoto jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wright is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wright and Yamamoto has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Wright tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Yamamoto connects with a nice short shot to Wright's temple.
Wright is trying to get back to full guard.

Yamamoto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wright is just riding it out for now. Yamamoto eventually gives up the hold.

Wright has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yamamoto is working away from the top position though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wright is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Yamamoto's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Yamamoto's back!

Yamamoto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wright gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Yamamoto wants to hit a switch here but Wright passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Yamamoto there!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wright wants to control the action but instead Yamamoto gets a body lock and reverses into Wright's guard! Nice work!

Yamamoto avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Yamamoto is pushing down on Wright's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wright is fighting to maintain full guard but Yamamoto has managed to sneak the leg through.

Wright is trying to control but Yamamoto passes into side control!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yamamoto tries to advance to mount but can't.
You can see the frustration on Wright's face as Yamamoto controls the position.
Wright is looking for a sweep.
Wright wants to control but Yamamoto postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wright misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wright shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yamamoto as he jumps to the side.
Yamamoto looks to clinch
and Wright counters with a left and a right that stings Yamamoto.

Yamamoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wright but Wright pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Wright decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wright takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Yamamoto wants to get back to full guard.

Wright tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Wright is tying to control. Yamamoto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Yamamoto is pressing down on Wright's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Wright won't allow Yamamoto to sweep him here.

The referee calls for Wright to work.

Yamamoto clinches up with Wright and pushes him back against the cage.
Wright tries to pull guard but Yamamoto won't allow it.
Yamamoto throws a punch but it's blocked by Wright.
Yamamoto misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wright.
Yamamoto tries to land knees in the clinch but Wright avoids the damage to the body.

Wright ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wright no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Wright is looking to stand up but Yamamoto isn't so interested in that idea.
Yamamoto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Wright pushes Yamamoto off and gets back to his feet.
Yamamoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Wright swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Yamamoto tries to pull guard but Wright holds him up against the cage and eventually Yamamoto drops back down to his feet.
Wright tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yamamoto smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Go Yamamoto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
