PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josh Flint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Sproles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sproles's choice of entrance music: Drones. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flint tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Good leg kick by Sproles there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Flint gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Flint is breathing heavily.
Flint keeps control of Sproles as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Sproles should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Flint's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Good work by Flint as he checks the leg kick.
Sproles lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sproles.

Sproles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Flint doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Flint manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sproles manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Flint manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Flint will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
