Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Herbert Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dean comes into the arena with Game - Hate it or Love it blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin tries to clinch up

and Dean counters with a single leg into guard. Martin didn't expect that.
Dean slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Dean loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Martin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dean. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Martin is looking for a triangle but Dean pushes his legs off easily.

Dean has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Martin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dean is controlling him.

Dean drops back looking for a leg! Martin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Martin manages to kick Dean off! Dean jumps back into Martin's guard.
Martin wants to stand up but Dean is controlling him.
Dean is pushing down on Martin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Martin is fighting to maintain full guard but Dean has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dean is trying to control. Martin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin wants to control but Dean is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dean wants to take a breather but Martin is having none of it.

Dean is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Martin has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Dean goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Martin turns into him and now he's in Dean's guard.

Martin wants to control from the top but Dean keeps moving.
Martin postures up and lands a big shot to Dean's brow.
Martin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Martin tries to score with some ground and pound. Dean controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Martin landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Dean regains half guard.
Martin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Martin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Martin shoots and misses

and Dean counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Martin's guard now.
Martin has control of Dean's left arm, preventing Dean from doing any damage.

Dean keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Martin's head.

Dean is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Martin controls Dean momentarily but Dean frees himself.
Dean wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving.

Dean drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dean jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Martin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dean defends it easily.
Dean won't allow Martin to sweep him here.
Martin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Dean wants to pass the guard but Martin is keeping the position.
Martin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Dean has gone for a leg lock! Martin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dean's guard.

Martin stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Dean has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Martin manages to get his head free but now Dean has transitioned to an armbar! Martin grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Dean! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
