Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jensen Linford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jensen Linford!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Linford throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Davis.
Davis rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Linford counters with a nice double leg into side control. Davis won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Linford tries for a kimura but Davis is defending well.
Linford tries to move into full mount but can't pass Davis's legs.

Linford swings around for an armbar but Davis sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Linford's guard.
Linford looking for a sweep. Not yet Linford, not yet.
Linford has Davis pulled in close to control his posture.
Linford manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Linford takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Davis is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Linford content just to control the position here.
Linford trying to control but Davis is having none of it.
Davis is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Davis is squirming around, avoiding Linford's attempts to control the action.

Linford swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Davis is now in Linford's guard. A big mistake from Linford there, giving up the dominant position!

Jensen Linford has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Davis looks to score with a jab to the body but Linford is just out of range.
Davis throws a left and a right that both miss

and Linford counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Linford works his way into full mount!
Davis is trying to stand.

Linford controlling the pace for now.
Linford connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
You get the feeling that Davis really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Linford tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Davis takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


It looks like Michael Davis has been cut.

Linford goes for an armbar but Davis turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Davis.

Linford pulls Davis in close to his closed guard and prevents Davis from doing any damage or advancing position.
Linford manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Davis manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Linford postures up in Davis's guard and throws a big left but Davis blocks it.
Linford sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Davis's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Linford throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Davis.
Davis falls off balance throwing a combination
and Linford connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Linford counters with a single leg into guard. Davis didn't expect that.

Linford drops back looking for a leg! Davis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Davis manages to kick Linford off! Linford jumps back into Davis's guard.

Linford pushing down on Davis's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Linford is taking a breather. Davis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Davis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Linford is looking for a kimura but Davis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Linford to get the leverage.

Linford seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Davis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jensen Linford has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Linford is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Davis is just riding it out for now. Linford eventually gives up the hold.

Linford looking to control but Davis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Davis has given up his back here. Will Linford look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Davis is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Linford working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Linford somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Davis defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.
Davis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Linford has his feet on Davis's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Davis misses with a double jab

so Linford counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Linford prevents Davis from getting back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Linford accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Linford trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.
Linford not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jensen Linford showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Davis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Linford manages to avoid it.
Davis throws a nice looking combination but Linford bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Linfordis looking to pass into half guard but Davis pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Davis is in guard.
Linford is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Linford is looking for a kimura here.
Davis won't allow Linford to pass to mount.
Linford is trying to control the action in half guard but Davis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Linford passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Davis!

Linford is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Davis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Davis!

Jensen Linford is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Linford manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Jensen Linford comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Linford has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
