Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between QL Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Trygg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trygg comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Pantera - Walk kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ivan Trygg acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trygg throws an overhand right that lands on Hicks's shoulder, as Hicks tries to avoid the shot.
Trygg misses with a wild combination.
Hicks closes the distance and clinches up with Trygg, looking for a takedown. Hicks pushes Trygg against the cage but Trygg circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Trygg tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hicks throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ivan Trygg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hicks throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Trygg counter with a right hand.

Hicks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Trygg postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Trygg grinds an elbow into Hicks's temple.
Trygg scores with a couple of short elbows.
A lull in the action here as Trygg stalls from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hicks is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Hicks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Trygg is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Trygg is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Trygg with the ground and pound but Hicks uses the opportunity to regain guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hicks holds on and takes a little breather.

Hicks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Trygg defends it easily.

Trygg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hicks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Trygg has managed to get both his arms back between Hicks's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hicks is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Trygg is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Trygg chips away with some ground and pound.
Trygg throws and elbow that misses. Hicks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Trygg's guard. Nice move by Hicks!

Trygg is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hicks tries to roll over but Trygg keeps him under control.

That was a close round but I would say that QL Hicks will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Hicks walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Hicks has gone for a leg lock! Trygg slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hicks's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hicks is on top in guard.

Hicks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Trygg manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hicks has Trygg in his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hicks gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Trygg holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hicks misses with a hook to the ribs.
Hicks tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Trygg's elbow.
Nice body punch from Trygg - that landed with a thud.
Trygg can't find room to land a body shot as Hicks controls the action.

Trygg throws an elbow but it misses.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Trygg has a couple of punches blocked by Hicks.

Hicks pushes off an throws an elbow but Trygg leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Well Trygg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
