The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsdottir tries for a takedown but Eru sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A big right from Eru misses.
Eru swings widly with a right hand
and Matsdottir counters with a thumping low kick.
Eru defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Matsdottir.
Eru throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Matsdottir counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Matsdottir moves away from the strike by Eru.
Matsdottir's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Eru connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Matsdottir scrambles back to his feet.
Eru thuds his right hand into Matsdottir's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Eru throws out a loose jab but Matsdottir uses good head movement to avoid it.
Oh Matsdottir is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Matsdottir keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Eru.
Eru is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Matsdottir avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Eru throws a jab but it's blocked by Matsdottir.
Matsdottir seems to have got his legs back now.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Matsdottir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Eru paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Matsdottir shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Matsdottir was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Eru looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Eru is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Matsdottir.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eru can do anything to dispel that myth.

Matsdottir seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Eru for as long as he can get away with.

Eru might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Eru avoids a punch combination nicely.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Eru throws a few strikes from the bottom but Matsdottir takes advantage and mounts!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Matsdottir content just to control the position here.
Sven Olle Matsdottir overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
