PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Kafka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thor Davi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davi has chosen Nekromantix - Cave Canem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kafka throws a lazy uppercut
and Davi counters with an inside leg kick.
Davi sizes up Kafka with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Davi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Davi counters with an outside leg kick.

and Davi counters with a thumping low kick.
Davi thows a body shot but no joy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kafka throws a right and a left that Davi avoids nicely.
Davi pushes Kafka away with a front kick.
Davi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kafka sees it coming and avoids it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davi postures up in Kafka's guard and throws a big left but Kafka blocks it.
Kafka keeping moving, preventing Davi from controlling successfully.
Davi throws and elbow that misses. Kafka uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Davi's guard. Nice move by Kafka!
Kafka has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Davi has control of Kafka's left arm, preventing Kafka from doing any damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

and Davi counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kafka is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Davi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

and Davi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kafka's knee momentarily.

and Davi counters with a two punch combo.
Kafka is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Davi cracks a nice hook into Kafka's ribs.

Kafka lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Davi stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Kafka has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Davi.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kafka cracks Davi with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Thor Davi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kafka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davi on the ground.
Davi is squirming around, avoiding Kafka's attempts to control the action.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Davi tries to reverse the position but Kafka maintains control.

Davi bucks up and throws Kafka to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Thor Davi really dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Thor Davi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Thor Davi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Davi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
