PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rob Pato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalle Kujansuu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kujansuu has chosen The Kinks - A well respected man as his entrance music. Kalle Kujansuu told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kujansuu avoids the head kick by Pato.
Pato is looking to clinch.
Pato tries to clinch but Kujansuu is having none of it.
Pato shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kujansuu pinned against the cage. Kujansuu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kujansuu takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kujansuu closes the distance looking to clinch
and Pato counters with a leg kick.
Kalle Kujansuu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Pato counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pato looks to clinch

and Kujansuu counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pato won't be happy with that.
Kujansuu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pato. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kujansuu stands up and beckons Pato to his feet.

It looks like Rob Pato has been cut.
Pato is breathing heavily.

Kujansuu is looking to stand up but Pato won't let him.

Kujansuu gets to his feet - Pato follows without any prompting.
Kujansuu darts in trying to clinch
and Pato counters with a solid body kick.
Pato takes one to the side of the head.
Kujansuu clinches but Pato breaks the clinch

and Pato counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Pato is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Kujansuu turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kujansuu manages to end up in side control.
Pato can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pato wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Kujansuu wants to stand but Pato has his arm trapped.
Pato is trying to improve his position.

Kujansuu wants to control but Pato is keeping him busy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kujansuu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Pato clinches up against the cage.
Pato fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kujansuu digs a right hand into Pato's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Pato's gas tank.

and Kujansuu holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kujansuu has had enough of the clinch but Pato keeps him there for the moment.

Pato postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kujansuu is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pato, into his guard.

Pato has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kujansuu should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pato has tightened it up now! Kujansuu should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
