Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Arona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Arona manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Arona had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rua defends it easily.
Rua postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Arona is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rua, into his guard.

Rua seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Let's hope that Rua has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Rua is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Arona is just riding it out for now. Rua eventually gives up the hold.

Arona tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rua goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Arona has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rua but great work by Arona.

Rua has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Arona is working away from the top position though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Arona is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rua gets his way!

Arona pivots and extends the arm, Rua falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Arona! Well done that man!
