Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, The Hero!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hero misses the jab.
Hero throws a left and a right that both miss

and Gobbels counters by moving into the clinch.
Gobbels gets through Hero's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Gobbels.

Hero pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hero throws a leg kick that is checked
and Gobbels counters with a nice uppercut.
Hero on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Hero thows a leg kick but Gobbels checks it
and Gobbels counters with a right hand to the body.
Hero throws a leg kick that is checked

and Gobbels moves into the clinch.
Gobbels lands an elbow just above Hero 's eye.


It looks like The Hero has been cut.
Hero looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Gobbels unloads a knee to the mid-section. Hero lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gobbels scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Hero takes a knee to the side of the body.
Hero looks gassed!
Gobbels lands a knee to the head.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Gobbels unloads a knee to the mid-section. Hero lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Gobbels lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Gobbels gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Gobbels lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hero backwards.
Gobbels utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Gobbels comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Gobbels manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Gobbels really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gobbels lands a nice knee to the body.
Come on Gobbels - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Gobbels lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hero or not.
Gobbels landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Gobbels.
Gobbels throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Gobbels lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hero keeping moving, preventing Gobbels from controlling successfully.
Gobbels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hero swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hero wants to control but Gobbels passes easily into half guard.
Hero is in trouble now - Gobbels has advanced to mount!
Gobbels controlling the pace for now.
Hero wants to hold on but Gobbels pushes him away.
Gobbels sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gobbels looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Gobbels is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hero has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gobbels trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Gobbels jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hero manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Gobbels is looking to take a break and control but Hero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hero wants to control but Gobbels postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gobbels is trying to get an arm triangle but Hero is defending well.
Hero parries the strikes from Gobbels easily there. Gobbels is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hero to escape.
Gobbels prevents Hero from escaping the position.
Gobbels passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Hero!
Gobbels trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Hero is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hero is squirming around, avoiding Gobbels's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hero tries to improve his position but Gobbels has taken his back! Gobbels has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Hero tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Gobbels pushes Hero away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Josef Gobbels!
