Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brett James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Brett James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 22 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James lunges at Thomas with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Thomas's hand.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thomas but Thomas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
James misses with a lunging right hand
and Thomas counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Thomas misses with an uppercut
and Thomas takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Thomas connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between James's hands.
Thomas throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease.
James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thomas is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Thomas circles away and we're back to standing.
Thomas misses with a few strikes there.
Thomas fails to land with a series of punches.
James shoots in and drives through. Thomas sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brett James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thomas avoids it really well and circles away.
Thomas scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
James dodges the punch combination from Thomas.
No joy there for Thomas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Thomas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.
Brett James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Thomas.

James tries to land knees in the clinch but Thomas avoids the damage to the body.
James lands a right hand.
James tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Thomas smiles and moves away.
Thomas keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
James dives in and grabs Thomas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thomas pushes down on James's head and hops out.
A decent looking cross lands there for James.
Paul Thomas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
James has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from James there as he acknowledges the shot.
James throws a combination that misses
and Thomas counters with a stiff right hand.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
James misses with a hook
and Thomas counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Thomas misses with a wild body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

James drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thomas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for James!
James is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Thomas looking for a guillotine from mount but James is having none of it.
James holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Thomas tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James reaches up to try and control the position but Thomas seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! James rolls and tries to escape and now Thomas has his back!
Thomas tries to get the hooks in deep but James pushed the leg off.
James looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Thomas looking for the choke from the back.
Thomas doesn't have the hooks in and James manages to turn into his guard.
Thomas wants to sweep here but James controlling him for the moment.

James gets to his feet. Thomas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A bone on bone clash there as Thomas blocks the leg kick.
Thomas takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Thomas which made him look bad.
James misses with a double jab
and Thomas counters with a three punch combo that has James backing up. James nods at Thomas to acknowledge the strikes.
Thomas bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
James tries to clinch up but Thomas circles away and keeps his distance.
Thomas is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

James closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Thomas quickly recovers to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

James stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Thomas counters with a straight right hand.
James is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thomas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
James smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
James with a hook.
James jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brett James will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


James shoots in and drives through. Thomas sprawls well.
Thomas takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


Thomas is rocked!
James fakes the body blow, causing Thomas to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Thomas goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Brett James!
