Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emelyanenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Super Mario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fedor Emelyanenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Super Mario!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelyanenko misses with a takedown attempt

and Mario counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Emelyanenko is trying to maintain the position but Mario is very close to passing his half guard.
Emelyanenko tries to get to full guard but Mario has control of the leg.
Emelyanenko trying to control but Mario postures up.
Emelyanenko won't allow Mario to pass to mount.
Mario is taking a breather. Emelyanenko says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mario passes into side control, despite Emelyanenko's attempt to control the position.
Mario in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Emelyanenko struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mario works to advance to full mount. Emelyanenko defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Emelyanenko wants to control but Mario is having none of it.
Mario controlling from mount.
Emelyanenko regains half guard.
Mario perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mario works his way into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mario controlling the position easily from mount.

Mario has hold of Emelyanenko's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Emelyanenko manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Mario breaks from Emelyanenko's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Mario tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Emelyanenko tries to hold on but Mario pushes him away.
Emelyanenko tries to control the position but Mario now has his back.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Emelyanenko trying to control the position but Mario manages to sink in the hooks.
I would not like to be Emelyanenko right now.
Mario is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Emelyanenko up.
Mario really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Emelyanenko.

Mario throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Emelyanenko!
Mario is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The referee is taking a good look at Emelyanenko as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Mario!
Emelyanenko looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Emelyanenko is breathing heavily.
Emelyanenko is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mario lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Super Mario dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mario scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Mario is working for a kimura but Emelyanenko is defending it quite comfortably.
Super Mario has got the better of the ground game so far.
Emelyanenko trying to control but Mario postures up.
Mario is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mario passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mario working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Emelyanenko wants to control but Mario is having none of it.

Mario is working for a guillotine from mount but Emelyanenko frees his head quite easily.

Mario is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Emelyanenko is surviving well by controlling Mario's body position as best he can.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Emelyanenko is in a horrible position here. Mario smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mario sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Emelyanenko keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mario takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mario gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Mario misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Emelyanenko shoots and misses

and Mario counters with a nice double leg into side control. Emelyanenko won't be happy with that.

Mario looks up at the clock and then as Emelyanenko takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mario smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

You can see the frustration on Emelyanenko's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mario decides to stand back up. Mario steps back and let's Emelyanenko get back to his feet.

Mario closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Emelyanenko did well to prevent Mario getting side control.
Mario stalling.

Mario stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Mario scores with a head kick. Emelyanenko tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Mario looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Mario postures up.
Emelyanenko pulls Mario in close to prevent any damage.
Mario trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mario controlling from the top position.
Emelyanenko wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mario rushes Emelyanenko and presses him up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Super Mario showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Mario looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Emelyanenko wants to sweep here but Mario controlling him for the moment.
Mario's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mario controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Super Mario wasn't active enough on the ground.

Emelyanenko tries to sprawl but Mario drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Emelyanenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mario is working away from the top position though.

Mario stands up and beckons Emelyanenko to join him on the feet.
Mario has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mario keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Emelyanenko's head.

Emelyanenko has a closed guard, preventing Mario from standing up.
Mario tries to free his leg and advance position but Emelyanenko is retaining full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Super Mario was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Mario counters with a low kick, right behind Emelyanenko 's knee.

Mario has taken the fight to the clinch.
Emelyanenko blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Mario breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mario closes the distance and clinches.

Emelyanenko is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Mario is pressed up against the cage. Emelyanenko has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mario down to the mat. Mario avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fedor Emelyanenko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mario works over Emelyanenko's head and body with a nice combination.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mario gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Emelyanenko is trying to control but can't.
Mario not doing much here.
Mario tries to stand and escape but Emelyanenko is controlling the position.
Mario takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Super Mario hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Mario is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mario wants to stand but Emelyanenko has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Mario drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Emelyanenko dives on top into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mario has an active guard here but Emelyanenko has managed to pass into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Super Mario comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mario has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
