Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie ODonnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ODonnell closes the distance but Cruz moves to the side

and Cruz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Cruz has ODonnell pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cruz pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending ODonnell tumbling to the mat - Cruz dives into ODonnell's guard.
Cruz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. ODonnell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cruz pushes down on ODonnell's leg and manages to get into half guard.
ODonnell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cruz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cruz is looking to take a break and control but ODonnell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cruz is looking for a kimura but ODonnell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cruz to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
