PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wounded Monkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Master Stacker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monkey comes to the ring accompanied by Sound of Silence. Stacker comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hard In Da Paint by: Wocka Flocka Flame kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Master Stacker!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Monkey.

Stacker fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Monkey sprawls well initially but Stacker persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Monkey is trying to stand back up but Stacker is controlling him

Stacker is looking for a kimura but Monkey is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stacker to get the leverage.

Stacker is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Stacker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Monkey defends it well.
Stacker thows a huge punch but Monkey dodges it nicely.

Stacker is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Monkey still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Monkey has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Stacker throws his legs up looking for a submission but Monkey uses it to pass to side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stacker tries to lock up and control but Monkey gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Stacker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stacker wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Monkey is trying to stick to Stacker's back but Stacker is turning into Monkey. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Monkey's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Stacker.
Stacker trying to control the position from guard on top but Monkey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stacker won't allow Monkey to get back to his feet.

Stacker wants to control from the top but Monkey keeps moving.

Stacker drops back looking for a leg! Monkey is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Monkey manages to kick Stacker off! Stacker jumps back into Monkey's guard.

Stacker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Stacker is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Monkey working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Stacker.
Stacker stops Monkey from standing up.

Stacker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Monkey manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Stacker has Monkey in his guard.

Stacker looking for subs off his back but Monkey has passed one foot through into half guard.

Stacker trying to control here.
Stacker is trying to stand up here but Monkey is controlling him well.
Stacker works his way to full guard. Good work.

Stacker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Monkey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stacker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Monkey is one step ahead there.

Stacker has his foot on Monkey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Monkey works his way back into a safe position though.
Stacker wants to sweep here but Monkey controlling him for the moment.

Stacker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Monkey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Monkey stops Stacker from standing up.
Stacker is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Stacker is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Stacker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Monkey is one step ahead there.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Stacker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Monkey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Monkey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Stacker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stacker throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Monkey escapes and throws Stacker's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Stacker is looking for a sweep.
Stacker wants to control but Monkey postures up.
Stacker tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Master Stacker dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Stacker thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Stacker wants to take a breather but Monkey is having none of it.
Stacker is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Stacker lands with a punch from half guard.

Stacker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Stacker is looking for a kimura but Monkey is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stacker to get the leverage.

Stacker looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Monkey with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stacker throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Monkey is defending against the submission attempts here by Stacker.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Stacker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Monkey is just riding it out for now. Stacker eventually gives up the hold.
Stacker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monkey keeps working.
Stacker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Stacker wants to pass the guard but Monkey is defending well.
Stacker working over Monkey with some ground and pound. Monkey looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stacker connects with a nice short shot to Monkey's temple.
Stacker wants to take a breather but Monkey is having none of it.
Master Stacker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stacker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Stacker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Monkey defends it well.

Monkey tries to kick Stacker off but Stacker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Stacker is pressing down on Monkey's thigh, looking to free his foot. Monkey is holding on for now.

Stacker is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Stacker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Monkey's head.

Stacker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stacker escapes and gets back to his feet.
Stacker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Monkey circles away.
Wounded Monkey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monkey stuffs the takedown.

and Stacker counters with a shoot takedown. Monkey fights it but they end up in guard.

Stacker decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Stacker counters with a shoot takedown. Monkey fights it but they end up in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Master Stacker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Stacker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
