PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luke Paulister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Escobar has chosen Dr. Kitch as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Pablo Escobar was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Paulister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pablo Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulister gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Paulister closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Paulister lands in his opponent's guard.
Paulister won't allow Escobar to sweep him here.
Paulister wants to control from the top but Escobar keeps moving.
Escobar keeping full guard, as Paulister tries to pass.
Escobar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Paulister's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paulister looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Escobar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Paulister's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Escobar seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Paulister is looking to control Escobar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Paulister avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Escobar wants to take a breather but Paulister is having none of it.
Still in half guard, Escobar seems content to control.
Escobar landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Escobar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Escobar trying to pass the guard but Paulister defending well.
Paulister preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Escobar is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Paulister sees it coming and defends easily.
Escobar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Paulister keeps working.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Escobar in particular looking to stall.
Escobar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Paulister defending well though.
Escobar trying to advance position but Paulister counters by regaining guard.

Escobar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paulister swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Paulister not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Escobar wants to control from the top but Paulister keeps moving.

Pablo Escobar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Escobar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Escobar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Paulister throws a combination that misses
and Escobar counters with a series of strikes. Paulister will be more careful next time no doubt.
Paulister wants to clinch up but Escobar keeps it at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Escobar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Escobar misses with a jab, cross combination.

Escobar closes the distance and clinches.
Escobar using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Escobar pressing his opponent against the cage.
Escobar blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Escobar connects with a nasty looking knee right to Paulister's face.
Escobar landing knees to the head.
Escobar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Paulister tries to pull guard but Escobar won't allow it.
Paulister tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Escobar smiles and moves away.
Paulister throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Escobar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pablo Escobar dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Escobar clinches up against the cage.
Escobar lands a right hand.
Paulister changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Escobar fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Paulister throws a leg kick that is checked
and Escobar counters with a nice uppercut.
Paulister throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Escobar misses with the combination.
Escobar tries to close the distance and clinch but Paulister swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Paulister keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Paulister doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Escobar counters with a nice body shot.
Escobar attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Escobar scores with the left hand. Paulister knows he should have avoided that one.
Escobar tries to close the distance and clinch but Paulister swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A right-left combo lands from Escobar.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Escobar lands a nice hook to Paulister's body. Paulister takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Escobar explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Paulister is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Escobar moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pablo Escobar!
