PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Turko Turero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Burgoyne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burgoyne has chosen God Save the Queen as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Turko Turero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Burgoyne!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turero tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burgoyne swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Burgoyne fails with a takedown attempt.

Turero scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Burgoyne is trying to control Turero's posture but Turero avoids it.
Burgoyne is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Turero is controlling him well.

Turero looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Turero in side control, throwing shots but Burgoyne defends.
Turero tries to advance to mount but can't.
Burgoyne can't do much from the bottom here.
Turero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Burgoyne tries to improve position but can't.

Turero decides to stand back up. Turero steps back and let's Burgoyne get back to his feet.
Turero is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Burgoyne circles away from the clinch attempt.
Turero doesn't manage to clinch there - Burgoyne circles away.
Turero is breathing heavily.
Turero is looking to clinch.
Burgoyne misses with a takedown attempt - Turero sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Burgoyne shoots for a double leg takedown but Turero sprawls well. He's pushed Burgoyne's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Turko Turero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Burgoyne.
Burgoyne closes the distance and clinches up with Turero, looking for a takedown. Burgoyne pushes Turero against the cage but Turero circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Burgoyne shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Turero pinned against the cage. Turero gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Turero drives through and clinches with Burgoyne against the cage.
Turero looking to throw knees to the head but Burgoyne is blocking nicely.
Come on Burgoyne - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Turero tries a knee to the head but Burgoyne blocks it.
Burgoyne tries to pull guard but Turero won't allow it.

Burgoyne manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Burgoyne looking for a sweep. Not yet Burgoyne, not yet.
Turero is fighting to break Burgoyne's control of his arms but Burgoyne is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Turero drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Burgoyne dives on top into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burgoyne is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Burgoyne decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Turero tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Burgoyne decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Turero tries to roll over but Burgoyne keeps him under control.

Turero is looking to escape.

Turero kicks off Burgoyne and gets to his feet.
Turero fails in his attempt to clinch.
Burgoyne keeps the fight on the outside.
Burgoyne circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Turero looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Turero tries to clinch but Burgoyne moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Turero throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Burgoyne.

Turero looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Turero is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Burgoyne defends it well.

Burgoyne makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Turero wants to clinch.
Turero doesn't manage to clinch there - Burgoyne circles away.

Burgoyne feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Turero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burgoyne doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burgoyne manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Turero looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turero is on top in guard.
Burgoyne has a closed guard, preventing Turero from standing up.
Turero wants to control from the top but Burgoyne keeps moving.
Turero pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Burgoyne is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burgoyne is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Turero passes Burgoyne's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Turko Turero dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Turero throws a head kick that misses.
Burgoyne throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Turko Turero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Turero fails with an attempt to clinch.
Turero tries to clinch but Burgoyne is having none of it.

Burgoyne has taken the fight to the clinch.
Burgoyne works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Burgoyne can't get the takedown.
Turero stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Turero tries to land knees in the clinch but Burgoyne avoids the damage to the body.
Burgoyne blocks an elbow strike.

Burgoyne is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burgoyne is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Burgoyne has his foot on Turero's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Turero works his way back into a safe position though.

Turero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burgoyne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Turero has his feet on Burgoyne's thighs here. He's pushed Burgoyne off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Burgoyne screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
