PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ren Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dane Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ren Duran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dane Mack!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Duran counters with a single leg into guard. Mack didn't expect that.

Duran avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Duran wants to control from the top but Mack keeps moving.

Mack is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Duran defends well.

Duran is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mack is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mack has escaped and now he's on top!
Mack loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mack won't allow Duran to sweep him here.
Mack sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Duran's guard.
Mack thows a huge punch but Duran dodges it nicely.

Mack is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Duran doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mack.
Mack throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Duran keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mack is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Duran is just riding it out for now. Mack eventually gives up the hold.

Mack is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Duran to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Mack working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duran wants to sweep but no luck.
Duran pulls Mack in close to his closed guard and prevents Mack from doing any damage or advancing position.
Duran wants to stand and escape but Mack is having none of it.
Mack is fighting to break Duran's control of his arms but Duran is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ren Duran.
Duran is looking to chop away at Mack's legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Duran dives in and grabs Mack's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mack pushes down on Duran's head and hops out.
Mack fails with the takedown

and Duran counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mack!
Mack is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Duran throws some wild stikes that Mack manages to avoid easily.
Mack is working to get back to half guard.
Duran throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ren Duran dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Duran turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Duran fails with a takedown attempt.
Mack blocks a low kick nicely.
Duran uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mack.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duran keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mack is trying hard to land a takedown here. Duran sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Duran closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mack's guard.

Mack has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Duran can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duran tries to free his leg and advance position but Mack is retaining full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mack is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Duran has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Duran trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Duran wants to control from the top but Mack keeps moving.
Mack trying to keep a closed guard but Duran is proving a slippery customer.

Mack looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Duran is defending well. Mack quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Duran has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Mack celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dane Mack!
