PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ford Perfect (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perfect throws a sloppy head kick
and Silva counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Perfect is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Silva throws a head kick but Perfect moves out of range.

Perfect closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Silva's guard.
Silva avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Perfect accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Perfect content to stall in guard here.

Perfect has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ford Perfect.
Perfect tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Perfect closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Silva quickly recovers to half guard.
Perfect looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Silva wants to get back to his feet.
Perfect is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Perfect trying to pass the guard but Silva defending well.
Perfect content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Perfect has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perfect. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Perfect postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Silva looks a forlorn figure.

Perfect is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Silva to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Silva shrugs it off.
Perfect controlling the pace for now.
Perfect's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Silva wants to clinch up but Perfect keeps it at a distance.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Silva.

Perfect moves into range and clinches up with Silva.
Silva stops a takedown attempt from Perfect.
Silva trying to control the position but instead, Perfect has worked for underhooks and has pushed Silva into the cage.
Perfect working hard to break the clinch.
Silva wants to stall.
Silva is looking to break free of the clinch but Perfect has double underhooks.
Perfect has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Silva avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Perfect tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Silva smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ford Perfect. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva lands a glancing blow to the side of Perfect's head.

Perfect gets a clinch.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Silva prevents Perfect from breaking the clinch.

Silva's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Silva tries to sprawl but Perfect drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Perfect throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Perfect tries to pass the half guard into mount. Silva knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.
Perfect moves nicely into side control.

Perfect decides to stand back up. Perfect steps back and let's Silva get back to his feet.

Perfect clinches.

Perfect works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Silva wants to sweep but no luck.
Perfect is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.

Perfect gets to his feet. Silva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Silva is looking to clinch but Perfect is avoiding it.
Silva lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
An inside leg kick lands from Silva.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Perfect swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Silva explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Perfect is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Silva.

Perfect sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
A nice inside leg kick there by Silva. That's going to slow Perfect down.

Perfect circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Silva pushes Perfect away with a front kick.
Silva connects with a leg kick. Perfect looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Perfect takes a kick to the side of the head.
Silva scores with a shot to the body.
Silva throws a nice inside leg kick.
Perfect avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Anderson Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Perfect's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Silva throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Silva enables Perfect to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Silva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Perfect slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

We're going to have a standup here because Ford Perfect wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Perfect on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Silva. Silva obviously looking to wear him down.

Silva lands a head kick. Perfect smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Perfect throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Perfect finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Perfect might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Perfect pushes down on Silva's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anderson Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Silva scores with a head kick. Perfect tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Silva fakes the leg kick and cracks Perfect in the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Perfect takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Silva scores with a one two! Perfect had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Oh Perfect is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Silva keeps Perfect at a distance using the push kick.
Perfect seems to have got his legs back now.
Silva lands with a kick to the temple. Perfect shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
