Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Starr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Starr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers misses with a few strikes there.
Starr tries to clinch
and Rogers counters with a series of strikes. Starr will be more careful next time no doubt.
Starr tries to clinch but Rogers moves out of range.
Starr with a lazy takedown attempt
and Rogers counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Starr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rogers.
Starr avoids a punch combination nicely.
Starr throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rogers counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Starr thinking.
Starr takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Starr closes the distance and pushes Rogers back into the cage.
Starr stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Rogers jumps guard but Starr stands there with Rogers around his waist. Rogers gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Starr wants to break free but Rogers has control.

and Rogers counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Starr counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rogers!

Starr can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rogers is looking to escape.

Rogers might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Starr kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rogers is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rogers tries to lock up and control but Starr gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rogers is squirming around, avoiding Starr's attempts to control the action.
Rogers is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
Starr avoids the attempt from Rogers to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Starr lands a big elbow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Starr tries to control but Rogers wriggling away.
Starr controlling from mount.
Starr thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Rogers wants to control but Starr is having none of it.
Rogers squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnny Rogers will probably get the nod.
That's time! Starr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Rogers counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Stephen Starr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rogers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rogers throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Starr has Rogers up against the cage in a clinch.
Starr is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Rogers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Starr looks to clinch
and Rogers counters with a left to the body.
Rogers digs a good body shot into Starr's ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Starr takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Rogers feints a jab promting Starr to slip. Rogers then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Starr slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Rogers!
Starr takes a shot to the body in his stride.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rogers throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rogers comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Rogers dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Rogers lands with a nice body punch.
A punch combination from Rogers misses.
Johnny Rogers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rogers moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Rogers throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Starr on the side of the head.
Rogers lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


Starr is rocked!
Rogers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

so Starr counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Starr is sitting in close to Rogers's body. Rogers has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Starr is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Starr is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Rogers.
