The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mercier crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Simpson - the referee stops the clock and Mercier gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Simpson. Mercier manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Jab, jab by Simpson - just one landing.
Simpson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Mercier takes a step back to recover.

Mercier on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mercier steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Simpson. That one must have hurt.
Simpson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Clinched against the cage, Simpson lands a big elbow that drops Mercier! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Mercier is complaining that he's OK but he was done.
