Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Geezer Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Rourke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Geezer Butler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Rourke!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rourke misses with a few strikes there.
Butler misses with a double jab

and Rourke decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Butler's guard.
Rourke wants to stand but Butler is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rourke trying to control but Butler is working from the bottom.
Rourke is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rourke should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rourke scoring with some ground and pound.
Rourke postures up in Butler's guard and throws a big left but Butler blocks it.
Rourke trying to control the position from guard on top but Butler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sam Rourke hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Rourke has his takedown stuffed

and Butler counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rourke!
Rourke looks gassed!
Rourke is trying to escape the mount.
Butler thowing shots but they're missing.
Butler landing shots from mount.
Butler avoids the attempt from Rourke to control.

Butler sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Butler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rourke is trying desperately to improve position.
Rourke is bucking up trying to escape but Butler cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Rourke is in all sorts of trouble here.
Butler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rourke on the ground.
Butler is landing with some decent strikes but Rourke is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Butler controlling from mount.
Butler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rourke is looking to improve his position but Butler isn't that keen on the idea.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rourke tries to hold on but Butler postures up.
Butler with a couple of short strikes.
Butler lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Rourke hang on?
Butler misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rourke is trying to stand.

Butler working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Rourke in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Rourke gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rourke wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Rourke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Geezer Butler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rourke is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Butler wants to stand but Rourke has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Butler trying to control but Rourke is working from the bottom.

Rourke working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Butler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Butler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Butler won't allow Rourke to sweep him here.

Rourke has an active guard here but Butler has managed to pass into half guard.
Rourke has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Butler is working away from the top position though.
Rourke on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Rourke moves into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rourke is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Butler is aware though and is defending well.
Butler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Butler avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rourke looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rourke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rourke looking to hit a scissor sweep but Butler is one step ahead there.

Rourke is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Butler is controlling him.
Rourke is trying to control the position but Butler postures up.
Rourke keeping full guard, as Butler tries to pass.
Butler trying to control but Rourke is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Butler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rourke is trying to get back to half guard.
Rourke sneaks back into half guard.
Butler thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rourke's head.
Rourke tries to get to full guard but Butler has control of the leg.
Butler is controlling the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Butler not landing any meaningful shots this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Butler looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rourke is on top in guard.
Butler trying to keep a closed guard but Rourke is proving a slippery customer.

Rourke drops back looking for a leg! Butler is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Butler manages to kick Rourke off! Rourke jumps back into Butler's guard.
Rourke pushes down on Butler's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rourke working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Butler's thigh. Butler counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Rourke tries to free his leg and advance position but Butler is retaining full guard.
Butler keeping moving, preventing Rourke from controlling successfully.
Rourke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Butler is keeping the position for now.
Butler is adopting a defensive guard.
Rourke trying to control the position from guard on top but Butler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rourke passes Butler's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Rourke scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Butler slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Rourke lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Butler working for a triangle but Rourke defends it easily.
Rourke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Butler swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rourke passes Butler's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rourke passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Butler!
Butler is looking to get to half guard.
Butler is working hard here to advance position.
Rourke dominating with strikes here.
Rourke putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rourke unloads with some shots from mount but Butler bucks and avoids them well.
Butler's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Rourke landing shots from mount.

Rourke moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Butler has worked his arm free - good work by Butler!

Rourke decides to stand back up.
Rourke misses with a wild combination.

Butler moves into the clinch successfully.

Butler jumps into guard, dragging Rourke to the mat.
Rourke trying to control but Butler is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sam Rourke.
Well Butler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
