The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vernon Reid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reid throws a left and a right that both miss
and Porunov counters with a stiff right hand.
Reid misses with a combination
and Reid takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Porunov with a hook.
Reid misses with a few strikes there.
Porunov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Reid throws a poor cross that misses
and Porunov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

enabling Porunov to counter with a crisp jab.

Porunov looks to land a body kick but Reid moved away.
Porunov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Reid was well out of range. Poor timing from Porunov.
Reid pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Porunov looks to score with a jab to the body but Reid is just out of range.
Vernon Reid is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Reid will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Porunov looks to land a combination but Reid avoids it well.
Reid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Porunov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Reid scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Reid cracks Porunov with an open hand slap.

and Porunov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Porunov is still on wobbly legs! Can Reid finish him?
Reid throws a head kick that misses.
Porunov seems to have recovered his senses.
Reid throws a right and a left that Porunov avoids nicely.

and Porunov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
