PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kid Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Dunne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller comes to the cage accompanied by Walk This Land. The crowd seem to be enjoying Dunne's choice of entrance music: Two Steps from Hell - Heat of Courage. Kid Miller could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to David Dunne's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kid Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Dunne!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller with a lazy takedown attempt
and Dunne counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Dunne misses with a body shot.
Miller throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dunne.
Miller just misses with a punch to the body.
Miller shoots in looking for a takedown but Dunne manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Miller's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Dunne avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Dunne gets caught napping as Miller dives in and scores a takedown. Dunne manages to retain guard.
Dunne preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Miller throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Dunne trying to keep a closed guard but Miller is proving a slippery customer.
Dunne wants to sweep but no luck.
Miller lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller thows a big elbow that misses.
Dunne is pulling down on Miller's head to control his posture.
Miller working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Dunne looking for a guillotine here but Miller defends easily.

Miller drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dunne manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Miller has Dunne in his guard.

Miller had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dunne defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Miller is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Miller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dunne gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Miller is looking for a triangle but Dunne pushes his legs off easily.
Dunne trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom.

Dunne stands and throws Miller's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Dunne is chipping away with strikes.
Miller is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Dunne is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Dunne trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Dunne landing strikes from the mount and Miller is in trouble!
Miller tries to reverse the position but Dunne maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Dunne can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miller is looking to escape.
Dunne landing punches.
Dunne with good strikes from the mount here!
Dunne prevents Miller from getting the reversal.
Dunne wants to control the pace but Miller is squirming around nicely.
Dunne fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Dunne can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miller is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Dunne dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dunne looks for a takedown but Miller sprawls well.

Dunne closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Miller works his way to full guard. Good work.

Miller has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Dunne should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Miller has tightened it up now! Dunne should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
