PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Baby Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerard Mullins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerard Mullins told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Baby Jay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerard Mullins!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jay misses with a hook.

Mullins dives in and scores a takedown into Jay's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mullins is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jay's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jay's back!

Mullins has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Jay's body.

Mullins wants to control the pace but Jay is squirming around nicely.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Baby Jay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jay looking for a guillotine from mount but Mullins is having none of it.
Jay has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jay lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mullins hang on?
Jay tries to control but Mullins wriggling away.
Mullins tries to lock up and control but Jay gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
A nice elbow there by Jay.

Jay breaks from Mullins's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Mullins is trying desperately to improve position.
Jay is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mullins can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jay lands a big shot to the head and Mullins winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
