The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maya changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A clash of legs there as Nguyen blocks the low kick.
Nguyen tries to land a body kick
and Maya counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Maya lands a nice leg kick that just misses Nguyen's sensitive parts.

and Nguyen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nguyen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Maya has gone for a leg lock! Nguyen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maya's guard.
Maya is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Maya shoots in and drives through. Nguyen sprawls well.

and Maya counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Nguyen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Nguyen lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nguyen throws a lazy uppercut

and Maya counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nguyen won't be happy with that.
Maya wants to take a breather but Nguyen manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Maya.
Maya wants to pass the guard but Nguyen is keeping the position.

Maya is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Nguyen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Nguyen has escaped and now he's on top!
