Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Zat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jia Le Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zat comes to the cage accompanied by Open your eyes by Alter Bridge. Gabriel Zat has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Zat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jia Le Li!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Li moves into the clinch.
Zat throws a head punch that misses.

Li is trying to trip Zat. He has hold of a leg but Zat is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Li persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Li trying to control but Zat is working from the bottom.
Zat trying to keep a closed guard but Li is proving a slippery customer.
Zat avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Zat is trying to control the position but Li postures up.
Li wants to pass the guard but Zat is keeping the position.
Zat has momentary wrist control but Li slips an elbow through the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zat wants to stand and escape but Li is having none of it.
Zat keeping moving, preventing Li from controlling successfully.
Li content to stall in guard here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Zat gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Li counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Li counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Li counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Li.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Li sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Zat's guard.
Li passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Zat!

Li controlling the pace for now.
Li lands a nice shot to the head.
Li sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Li lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Li avoids the attempt from Zat to control.
Li looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zat is squirming around, avoiding Li's attempts to control the action.
Zat trying desperately to get to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Li lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Li is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Zat can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jia Le Li dominated that round.

Zat tries to score with a low kick but Li moves his leg out of the way.
A solid leg kick lands there for Zat.
Nice defenses there by Zat.
A slapping leg kick lands for Zat.

Li shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Zat wants to control but Li is having none of it.
Li raining down shots from the mount!

Zat tries to hold on but Li postures up.
Zat is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Zat is rocked!

Li goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Zat is on top in guard.
Zat passes Li's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Li is looking for a sweep. Zat is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Zat is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Zat is trying to control. Li wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Zat uses his free foot to push down on Li's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Li.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Li is in all sorts of trouble here.

Zat misses with a head shot.
Zat throws a strike there. Li manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Li is refusing to be controlled, as Zat sits in half guard.
Zat throws a strike but Li avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Zat has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Li is proving hard to escape from.
Li avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Zat drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Li dives on top into guard.
Zat keeping full guard, as Li tries to pass.
Li won't allow Zat to get back to his feet.
Li is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Zat pulls Li in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jia Le Li showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Zat falls off balance throwing a combination

and Li counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zat won't be happy with that.
Zat is pushing Li's head away, looking to escape. Li manages to hold on to the position though.

Check out the look on Li's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Li is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zat is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Zat bucks up and tries to throw Li off but instead Li has got his back!

Li lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Zat trying to get back to his feet but Li is in full control for now.
Li lands a shot to the head.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Li controlling the positon.
Can Zat hold on?! Li is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Li patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Li has good solid back control here.
Li trying to control.
Li is not going to allow Zat to sit and survive in this position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Li struggling to land strikes to the head as Zat covers up.
Zat manages to reverse the position and now he's in Li's guard. Nice work there by Zat.
Zat throws and elbow that misses. Li uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Zat's guard. Nice move by Li!
Li with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jia Le Li has got the better of the ground game so far.
Zat wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Li is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Zat is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Zat has escaped and now he's on top!

Gabriel Zat has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Li working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zat doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zat manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Li manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jia Le Li comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Li has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
