Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Aizen Sosuke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sosuke tries for a takedown but Melendez circles away easily
and Melendez counters with a right hand to the body.
Sosuke doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sosuke takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Melendez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Melendez.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aizen Sosuke. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Melendez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Melendez closes the distance and pushes Sosuke back into the cage.

Melendez pulls guard effortlessly.
Sosuke looking to sit in guard and control but Melendez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Melendez landing with the ground and pound.
Melendez wants to pass the guard but Sosuke is keeping the position.

Melendez trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sosuke's guard.
Melendez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sosuke swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sosuke is working an open guard so Melendez takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Melendez shoots for a takedown but Sosuke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Melendez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

so Melendez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Sosuke has a closed guard, preventing Melendez from standing up.
Melendez looks gassed!
Melendez is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Melendez postures up in Sosuke's guard and throws a big left but Sosuke blocks it.

Melendez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Melendez with the ground and pound but Sosuke regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Melendez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Sosuke to get to his feet.

Melendez lands with a nice combination. Sosuke backs away looking to recover.

Melendez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sosuke quickly recovers to half guard.
Melendez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Melendez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Melendez stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Sosuke tries for a takedown but Melendez circles away easily

and Melendez counters with a single leg into guard. Sosuke didn't expect that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Melendez is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Sosuke has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Melendez is looking to defend but Sosuke has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Melendez! Sosuke pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Melendez taps out and this one is all over!
