Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Henry Beninth!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A head kick by Howard misses
and Beninth counters with an outside leg kick.
Beninth throws a leg kick that is checked
and Howard counters with a thumping low kick.
Howard takes a swing at Beninth's ribcage but misses.
Howard throws a low kick but Beninth avoids it.
Howard throws a lazy head kick
and Beninth counters with a nice body kick.
Beninth finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Howard moves out of range of the leg kick from Beninth.
Beninth lands a leg kick that knocks Howard off balance momentarily.
Howard is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Howard falls off balance throwing a combination
and Beninth counters with a slapping leg kick.
Beninth dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Howard. That did some damage!
Beninth lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Beninth moves in looking to clinch but Howard pushes him off.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Howard circles away from the clinch attempt.
Beninth fails in his attempt to clinch.
Beninth scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Howard stuffs the takedown attempt from Beninth. Beninth gets slowly back to his feet.
Beninth tries to clinch but Howard moves out of range.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Beninth, right into the meat.
A head kick lands from Beninth that sends Howard to the canvas. Howard tries to scramble back to his feet but Beninth brings him back down into side control.
Howard is rocked!
It looks like Dean Howard has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beninth in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Howard is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
