Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pat McDermot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genghis Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ready 4 War. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pat McDermot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Genghis Khan!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan throws a right hand that misses
and McDermot counters with a nice body shot.
McDermot comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Khan throws a right hand that misses
and McDermot counters with a slapping leg kick.
Khan looks gassed!
McDermot misses with a few strikes there.
Khan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Khan avoids the body shot from McDermot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDermot misses with a leg kick
and Khan counters with a big head kick but McDermot shrugs it off.
Khan takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
McDermot stuns Khan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Khan on the wrong end of a nice hook.


It looks like Genghis Khan has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A shot to the body from Khan misses
and McDermot makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That kick from McDermot tenderised Khan's leg. Khan is trying to keep his angry face on.

McDermot fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Khan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Khan moves out of range as McDermot strikes.
McDermot connects with a nice looking jab.
McDermot ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McDermot throws a shot from downtown. Khan moves away and avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Khan blocks a head kick by McDermot.
A head kick by Khan misses
and McDermot counters with a slapping leg kick.
Nice uppercut there from McDermot.
McDermot throws a big shot that misses.
McDermot bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McDermot connects with a body shot that sends Khan's belly button to the back.
McDermot throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Khan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
McDermot misses with a body kick.
McDermot throws a body kick that misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Khan shoots in for a takedown but McDermot shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Genghis Khan's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McDermot misses with an uppercut.
McDermot clobbers Khan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A solid leg kick lands there for McDermot.
McDermot throws out a loose jab but Khan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Khan misses with a right hand
and Khan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McDermot waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Khan.

Khan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McDermot.
A shot to the body from Khan misses
and McDermot counters with a lovely straight right hand!
McDermot looks to land a left hand but Khan moved out of range nicely.
McDermot misses with a body punch
and Khan counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A slow jab from Khan misses its intended target.

Khan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McDermot.
McDermot misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Khan counters with a three punch combo that has McDermot backing up. McDermot nods at Khan to acknowledge the strikes.
Khan misses with a leg kick
and McDermot counters with a series of strikes. Khan will be more careful next time no doubt.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Khan might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, McDermot has got the better of the exchanges.
Khan shoots in for a takedown but McDermot shows good takedown defense.
Khan is breathing heavily.
McDermot lands a jab to Khan's midsection.
McDermot is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khan can do to turn this around?

Khan thows a leg kick but McDermot checks it
and McDermot counters with an outside leg kick.
Khan throws a jab when McDermot was well out of range.
McDermot misses with a wild body shot.
Khan moves out of range of the body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Khan connects with a good right hand that stumbles McDermot. McDermot circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
McDermot blocks a head kick by Khan.
McDermot missing with a left hand there. Khan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Khan shoots and misses
and McDermot counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Pat McDermot is winning the standup battle so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McDermot misses with a series of wild punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pat McDermot dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Genghis Khan's cut.
That's time! McDermot's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


McDermot misses with an uppercut

and Khan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Khan.
McDermot has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
McDermot trying to keep a closed guard but Khan is proving a slippery customer.
McDermot preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Khan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Khan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Khan throwing strikes from guard but McDermot blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan preventing the sweep.
McDermot wants to stand up but Khan is controlling him.
McDermot is wriggling around but Khan manages to pass to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Khan looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Genghis Khan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Khan winds up and cracks McDermot with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Khan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McDermot regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Khan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McDermot wants to stand and escape but Khan is having none of it.
Khan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Khan with a flurry of punches that miss.
Khan stopping the sweep attempt from McDermot.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Khan has gone for a leg lock! McDermot slips out almost immediately though and dives into Khan's guard.
McDermot pushes down on Khan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McDermot blocks the strikes from Khan.
Pat McDermot is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Khan actively working from the bottom here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Genghis Khan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McDermot has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
