Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hector Vazquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Lins!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vazquez shoots in looking for a takedown but Lins manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vazquez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lins misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Lins looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Lins controls from within his opponent's guard.
Vazquez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Vazquez is working an open guard so Lins takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Vazquez fails with the takedown

and Lins counters by moving into the clinch.
Lins lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Hector Vazquez has been cut.

Lins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vazquez misses with a takedown attempt

and Lins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hector Vazquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lins gets to his feet - Vazquez follows without any prompting.

Lins instigates a clinch.
Lins is pressed up against the cage. Vazquez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lins down to the mat. Lins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vazquez's guard.

Vazquez controls Lins momentarily but Lins frees himself.
Lins is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Vazquez wants to clinch but Lins slips to the side
and Lins finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Vazquez is breathing heavily.
Vazquez has his takedown stuffed

and Lins holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Lins lands a left hand that snaps the head of Vazquez backwards.

Lins successfully pulls guard.
Lins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Lins content just to control the position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vazquez is looking to get to half guard.
Lins scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Lins controlling his opponent.
Lins working the ground and pound effectively.

Lins cracks Vazquez with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Lins raining down shots from the mount!
Lins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Lins has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vazquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lins controlling his opponent.
Lins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lins lands a big elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lins sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Lins dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hector Vazquez's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Lins rushes Vazquez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Vazquez is working for takedown but Lins is calmly controlling the position for now.

Lins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lins throws a front kick that sends Vazquez stumbling back into the cage.
Lins misses with a wild combination.
Lins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lins throws a sloppy head kick
and Vazquez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Lins fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vazquez sprawls well initially but Lins persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lins looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Vazquez wants to get back to full guard but Lins has passed into side control.

Lins decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lins explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Lins throws a head kick but Vazquez moves out of range.

Vazquez tries to keep at a distance but Lins has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lins avoiding damage as Vazquez throws knees to the body.

Lins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lins closes the distance and clinches.

Lins drags the fight down to the ground.

Lins has his feet on Vazquez's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Lins lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A nice leg kick lands there from Lins.

Lins gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Vazquez tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lins avoids it.

Lins breaks from the clinch.
Lins lands a head kick. Vazquez smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Hector Vazquez's cut is getting worse.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lins darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lins is nestled in close to Vazquez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Lins stands up and beckons Vazquez to join him on the feet.

Vazquez gets tackled into the cage by Lins. Lins maintains the clinch.
Vazquez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lins can't get the takedown.

Lins successfully pulls guard.

Lins has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Vazquez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Lins has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lins manages to pull guard.
Lins managing to control the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lins is on top in guard.

Lins stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lins feints and then cracks Vazquez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Vazquez down.

Lins drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Lins stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Lins moves into the clinch.

Lins jumps guard and drags Vazquez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lins trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vazquez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lins has his feet on Vazquez's thighs here. He's pushed Vazquez off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Vazquez screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Henry Lins!
