Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Surat Kummel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Mathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mathers has chosen Anthem of Kings as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Surat Kummel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mathers!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kummel scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Mathers closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kummel's guard.
Mathers sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Mathers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kummel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mathers looking to pass the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mathers shoots in looking for a takedown but Kummel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mathers's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mathers cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mathers lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kummel hang on?

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kummel throws a low kick but Mathers moves out of range easily.

Kummel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mathers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kummel is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mathers asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Kummel tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Mathers lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Kummel.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kummel takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Mathers lands with a hammerfist to the side of Kummel's head.
Mathers misses with a punch to the head.

Mathers controls the action.
Mathers's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Marshall Mathers has got the better of the ground game so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mathers is punishing Kummel with strikes - can he finish him?!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marshall Mathers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Mathers shoots for a double leg takedown but Kummel sprawls well. He's pushed Mathers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck for Mathers with that takedown attempt.

Kummel fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mathers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kummel did well to prevent Mathers getting side control.
Mathers thows a huge punch but Kummel dodges it nicely.
Kummel wants to get back to his feet.

Mathers content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kummel tries to kick Mathers off but Mathers keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Surat Kummel wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kummel wants to clinch.

Mathers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee asks Mathers politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mathers prefers to stall for the moment though.
Let's hope that Mathers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Surat Kummel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kummel is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mathers connects with a decent elbow.

Kummel is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Marshall Mathers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mathers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mathers remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Marshall Mathers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mathers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
