The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren shoots in and drives through. Katorjnov sprawls well.
A leg kick checked by Askren.
Katorjnov throws a half hearted mid kick.

Askren shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Askren was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Askren throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Katorjnov is in a horrible position here. Askren smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Askren lands with some strikes.

Askren goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Katorjnov turns into him and now he's in Askren's guard.

Askren keeping moving, preventing Katorjnov from controlling successfully.
Askren is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Katorjnov wants to control from the top but Askren keeps moving.
Askren is looking to sweep but instead, Katorjnov has passed into half guard.

Askren has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Katorjnov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Nickolay Katorjnov has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Katorjnov tries to score with a low kick but Askren moves his leg out of the way.
Horrible takedown by Askren or perhaps it was just good defense by Katorjnov which made him look bad.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Askren shoots in looking for a takedown but Katorjnov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Askren's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Askren shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Katorjnov sprawls well. Katorjnov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Askren gets slowly back to his feet.

Askren works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Askren slips a nice elbow through Katorjnov's hands, connecting with Katorjnov's forehead.
Katorjnov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Katorjnov is pressing down on Askren's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Askren throwing strikes but missing.
Askren scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Askren stands up over Katorjnov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Askren working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Katorjnov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Askren throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Askren is in close to Katorjnov's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Askren lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Askren drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Askren seems to have locked his on tight now - Katorjnov screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Askren, as he picks up the win!
