The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vessey bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Vessey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kiviluola is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vessey tries to move to mount but Kiviluola blocks the move with his legs.

Vessey tries for a kimura but Kiviluola is defending well.

Kiviluola trying to control but Vessey flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kiviluola rolls, trying to escape but Vessey keeps control of the position.
Kiviluola is trying to get back to his feet but Vessey has full control of the position and if anything, Kiviluola has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Vessey is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kiviluola defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Vessey darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Vessey works his foot free and advances to mount.

Vessey has control of Kiviluola's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kiviluola regains control of the situation pretty easily.
