Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Lahey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Resin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phil Resin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jim Lahey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Phil Resin!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lahey cracks the inside of Resin's front leg.

Lahey drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Resin regains half guard.
Resin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Lahey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Lahey drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Resin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lahey has Resin in his guard.
Resin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Resin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Resin forces his way into half guard.
Resin not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Resin wants to pass to mount but Lahey is defending the position.
Resin prevents Lahey from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Resin throwing shots but Lahey is blocking nicely.
Lahey is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Resin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Resin's back!
Resin trying to control the position but Lahey manages to sink in the hooks.

Lahey is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Resin knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Resin for a finish.
Lahey doesn't have the hooks in and Resin manages to turn into his guard.

Lahey is trying to control the position but Resin postures up.

Resin thows a big elbow that misses.

Resin chips away with some ground and pound.
Resin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Resin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lahey looking for a guillotine here but Resin defends easily.
Lahey preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lahey is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lahey wants to sweep but no luck.
Lahey is breathing heavily.
Resin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lahey's head.
Lahey keeping moving, preventing Resin from controlling successfully.
Resin distracts Lahey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Resin stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Resin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lahey sprawls well initially but Resin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Resin prevents Lahey from improving his position.
Lahey is working hard here to advance position.
Lahey taking some punishment here, with Resin in his half guard.

Resin is working for a kimura but Lahey is defending it quite comfortably.

Lahey pushes Resin off and gets back to his feet.

Resin shoots in and gets a takedown into Lahey's guard.
Resin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lahey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lahey controls Resin momentarily but Resin frees himself.

Resin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Resin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Resin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Resin trying to control the position from guard on top but Lahey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Resin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lahey kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Lahey looking for a guillotine here but Resin defends easily.
Resin throws a big right hand that misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lahey working for a triangle but Resin defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Resin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Resin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lahey was covering up waiting for the punch and Resin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lahey trying to control the position.
Resin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Lahey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Resin wants to control from the top but Lahey keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lahey looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Lahey has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Resin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lahey.

Resin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lahey has escaped the position, nice work there.
Lahey is looking for a sweep.
Resin working the ground and pound.
Resin trying to control the position but Lahey is working away.
Resin lands some shots froms side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lahey tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Resin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Resin is working Lahey over with some ground and pound from side control.
Resin lands a decent elbow from side control.
Lahey is working to avoid the ground and pound but Resin connects with a decent elbow.
Resin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lahey!
The referee warns Lahey that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Resin lands a big shot there that rocks Lahey but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Resin unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Lahey wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Resin celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phil Resin!
