Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Marston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wilson Torres!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Torres tries to sprawl but Marston drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Torres wants to get back to his feet.

Marston is looking for a kimura here.

Marston is looking for a kimura but Torres is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Marston to get the leverage.
Marston trying to control from half guard but Torres is working away.
Marston throwing shots but Torres is blocking nicely.

Marston is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Torres moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Torres fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marston manages to avoid it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Torres takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Marston is working for takedown but Torres is calmly controlling the position for now.

Torres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Marston looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Torres trying to hold on to Marston's head to control him but Marston postures up.
Torres is looking for a sweep. Marston is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Marston uses his free foot to push down on Torres's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Torres.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Marston jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Torres is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Torres and Marston has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The strikes coming from Marston are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Marston wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Torres, who protects the arm well.
Torres sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Marston is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Marston tries to stand but can't do so whilst Torres controls his leg.

Marston is working for a kimura but Torres is defending it quite comfortably.

Torres connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Marston's hands.

Marston rushes Torres and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Torres displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marston.
Marston shoots in looking for a takedown but Torres manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Marston's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Marston tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Torres swivels and escapes.
Marston uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Torres.

and Marston counters with a nice double leg into side control. Torres won't be happy with that.

Marston goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Torres rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Marston's guard! Nice work there by Torres!

Torres wants to control from the top but Marston keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marston is on top in guard.

Marston drops back looking for a leg! Torres is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Torres manages to kick Marston off! Marston jumps back into Torres's guard.

Marston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Torres swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Marston throws a series of punches but Torres avoids them all with ease.
Torres leaves Marston with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Marston is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Torres is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Torres has escaped and now he's on top!
Marston tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Marston has his foot on Torres's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Torres works his way back into a safe position though.

John Marston showed his dominance in that final round.
