Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Softy McSofterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and River Tam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tam comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dangerous kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from McSofterson.
Tam looks to clinch
and McSofterson counters with a body kick.
Tam tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and McSofterson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McSofterson.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and McSofterson counters with a thumping low kick.

Tam clobbers McSofterson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and McSofterson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
River Tam is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McSofterson shoots in but Tam avoids the takedown attempt easily.

McSofterson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tams jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Tam takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Tam takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and McSofterson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Tam wants to get back to his feet but McSofterson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Softy McSofterson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Tam connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tam fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Tam thuds a left hand into McSofterson's body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Tam is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McSofterson is controlling him.
McSofterson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tam can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tam is looking to stand up but McSofterson isn't so interested in that idea.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

McSofterson dives in and grabs Tam's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tam pushes down on McSofterson's head and hops out.

Tam is controlling McSofterson's trapped leg to prevent McSofterson from advancing to side control.

McSofterson trying to mount his opponent but Tam defends it.
McSofterson prevents Tam from standing back up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
McSofterson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tam stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McSofterson.
McSofterson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tam.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McSofterson misses with a double jab
and Tam counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McSofterson misses the shot to the body.
McSofterson works over Tam's head and body with a nice combination.
Tam misses the shot to the body.
Tam scores with a shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McSofterson looks to score with a jab to the body but Tam is just out of range.
River Tam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tam displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McSofterson.
Tam takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and McSofterson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Tam!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tam tries to improve his position but McSofterson has taken his back! McSofterson has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Tam tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! McSofterson pushes Tam away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
